So anyways, Stephany Meyer is now known as "The Suethor", for she is the author of a book about a terrible Mary Sue.

ANTIVOTE.
That sounds too much like Seuss, who is the most amazing author ever even if he was slightly anti-semitic.

Seuss was batshit insane if his books are any indications, but still a pretty cool guy.

What was his degree in though? Or was he an actual medical doctor?

1. He wasn't a real doctor. His degree was in Literature.

2. He wasn't an anti-semite. In fact, he was an outspoken critic of racism against black people and Jews.

Oh, sorry, wrong side of the war dur. Anti-Japanese.
And it's commonly accepted as 'soos' in America and is listed in the dictionary as such, despite its foreign origins. Hence 'Seussical' in a partial rhyme with 'musical'. English has a tendency to ignore any rules that may already exist when they import foreign sounds -- see Mao Zedong, or an even more egregious example, Kuomintang.

*Sigh*
I actually DID find that funny. Partly because there are small jokes I agree with, and partly because the rest is so obviously a satire which is actually targeting those who are anti-Twilight.

Not really. Cracked regularly features articles from that site. They're whole-heartedly slating every movie they do this with.

Yeah. I have no idea how it's possible to interpret that article as pro-Twilight (or anti-anti-Twilight). >_<;; I don't hate it that much, but seriously. They're clearly lampooning the series and by refusing to acknowledge that, you're sort of affirming the fanboy-ism that the article is poking fun at.

All of my multiple personalities do. :) They count, don't they?
And, Wight... I'm not even going to bother to explain. I'm not a 'fanboy', as you seem to be saying, but I'll just say that satire goes both ways.
Anyway, I'm not saying any of you have to agree with my reasons for not hating Twilight. All I'm saying is that I don't share your reasons for hating the book(s).
Can we close this discussion? It has gone beyond inane.

I'm not calling you a fanboy. I'm saying that the article is poking fun of people who are (in addition to poking fun of the movie itself). And, of course, a fanboy would refuse to believe that anyone could believe the object of their fanboyism is bad; thus my comment above that your view of that article is bordering on the fanboyish.

Indeed satire goes both ways, but I suppose I must apologize for not being sophisticated enough to see how that piece could be interpreted any way other than what it presents itself as.

This is the Heated Debate forum; you may cease to comment if you like, but I believe the point of this section is that people will have their beliefs somewhat trod upon by others. There really shouldn't be a need to close a topic if no one is actively flaming or trolling. Unfortunately, it just happens that you are the only representative of one side of this 'debate', so you might feel particularly singled out (if you do, I must apologize), but an easy way to cause this to die is if you simply stop commenting as we would have no one to 'debate' against.

In general, I am greatly against the locking or closing of threads unless absolutely necessary.
